Well here's the final set, quite a long one as well clocking in at 4:55:14 and containing chapters 10, 11 and 12.

This set starts off a bit slow to be honest, I don't know if it was just a boring area or if I wasn't quite in the mood for Dead Space yet, but it gets a lot better further in :). I also find out that the Line Gun and Contact Beam are actually pretty awesome, and I finally max out EVERYTHING ;).

I was expecting Dead Space to be a lot more horror-ish, but it was really good for what it was, and it really picked up the pace a bit near the end which helped a lot. Overall I really enjoyed the game, it was well worth the $29.99 I paid for it, and I'm looking forward to playing Dead Space 2 :).

Guess I'll watch Dead Space: Downfall while this monster encodes :P.

This set is all of chapters 5, 6 and 7.

Not much to say this time, there's a cool Zero-G section and boss, and a few interesting "story-ish" scenes :P.

That's not to say I'm not enjoying it, it's really fun, the story is just revealed VERY slowly. Though if it was revealed faster then a lot of the mystery would be gone, double edged sword really.

P.S.: I remembered to try the ripper's alt-fire, and I even buy a new gun :D.
P.P.S.: The plasma cutter is the only gun that doesn't suck lol. The others won't be seeing much use in this playthrough.

This set is all of chapters 3 and 4. Finally onto the new areas of the game :D.

This set was a lot better than the first for a few reasons: some new enemy types, more combat, more scares and spooky scenes, more Zero-G and no oxygen environments, plus of course the fact that it's all new to me.

I definitely enjoyed this set a lot more than the first.

P.S.: I finally buy a new gun in this one, but I only use it for a few shots since I suck lol.
P.P.S.: I should remember to try the alt-fire of the ripper next time, betcha I forget.

Due to various issues, I had already played through all of chapters 1 and 2, so I ended set 1 right at the end of chapter 2 to go ahead and get the old stuff (for me) out of the way.

Chapter 1 wasn't anything special, it was just introduction stuff and a bit of combat, though at this point I've gotten pretty good at the combat and so it's pretty fun.

Chapter 2 kept the combat but traded up for a better "creepy" atmosphere in places, some fun new mechanics, a few scares (for your first time), and a couple of new enemies.

Anyway, it's been a good game so far, maybe not as scary as I was hoping for, but still good, and there's apparently 10 chapters to go still.

Hopefully the next set will be better since I'll have no clue what's going to happen :). I'm definitely looking forward to getting through this game after 5 months of waiting to play it.

Video: Left 4 Dead 2 Demo - SP highlights

Here's just the highlights from my single player playthrough of Left 4 Dead 2's Demo :).

Also, I've stretched the video to 1024x768 to get YouTube's HD quality without changing the aspect ratio, so it should look quite a bit better than the playthrough itself. I'm sorry about the quality difference, but I don't want to re-encode the playthrough for various reasons.

Left 4 Dead 2 looks like it's going to be pretty good based on the demo, I only have two real complaints so far:
1) The original survivors are gone. I like the new survivors, but it's just not the same.
2) The game is shipping with a bare bones 5 campaigns, which Left 4 Dead showed me is just way too little initial content for this series for the huge time spans that Valve expects us to wait between content releases, but hopefully Valve won't be so terrible with the new content this time around with the series. Though it's worth a mention that I was never a big fan of Versus, so maybe the wait wasn't as bad for other Left 4 Dead players.

Video: Left 4 Dead - No Mercy campaign MP highlights

Video Info: 26:38 in 3 parts.

I've finally started off my Smacker626CCTV YouTube channel by uploading some highlights from a multiplayer session of Left 4 Dead's No Mercy campaign that I recorded all the way back on December 8th of 2008, the real highlights being the voice chat from Lord Sojar and razielmgs, I highly suggest you check it out if you want a good laugh.

On a related note, I've been waiting to play Dead Space for a long time now, not wanting to start it until I finished editing this video and doing a backup of my data (37 SL DVD+R's lol), and I've just finished both of those, so hopefully a blind (first time) playthrough of Dead Space will be hitting the channel soon as well.
